Privacy Policy
Privacy is one of our core values. This policy explains what personal information our apps and website collect, why we collect it, and the choices you have.
Contents
1. Who we are
This policy is issued by Friday Technologies Pty Ltd (ABN 94 527 711 494), an Australian company (“Friday Technologies”, “we”, “us” or “our”). It applies to the apps we publish under our own name (for example on the Apple App Store), to this website and to any other service that links to it (together, our “Services”).
We handle personal information in line with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs). Where an individual app has its own privacy notice, that notice adds to this policy, and the app-specific notice prevails if the two differ.
This policy does not cover software we build for clients. Apps published by a client under their own name are governed by that client’s privacy policy.
2. Our approach
We design our apps to collect as little personal information as possible. In practice this means:
- Many of our apps work entirely on your device and send us no personal information at all.
- We do not sell personal information, and we do not use it for third-party advertising.
- We do not track you across other companies’ apps or websites, as “tracking” is defined by Apple’s App Tracking Transparency framework.
- Where an app uses on-device processing (such as Apple Intelligence or on-device machine learning), that processing happens on your device and the results are not sent to us.
Each app’s App Store listing includes a privacy label summarising what, if anything, it collects.
3. Information we collect
Depending on the Service and how you use it, we may collect:
- Information you give us — for example your name, email address and the content of your message when you email us, request support, or create an account in an app that offers one.
- App data — game progress, settings and similar data. In most of our apps this is stored only on your device or in your own iCloud account, which we cannot access.
- Purchase information — when you buy an app or in-app purchase, payment is handled by Apple (or the relevant platform). We receive limited transaction information, such as confirmation that a purchase occurred, but never your card details.
- Diagnostics — if you choose to share analytics with app developers in your device settings, Apple may provide us with aggregated, de-identified crash reports and usage statistics.
- Website usage — this website uses cookies and similar technologies (including Google Tag Manager and Google Analytics) to understand how visitors use it. This may include your IP address, browser type, pages viewed and approximate location.
We do not intentionally collect sensitive information (as defined in the Privacy Act). If an app needs access to something like your camera, photos, location or microphone, it will ask for permission first, and unless the app clearly says otherwise, that data stays on your device.
4. How we use information
We use personal information to:
- provide, maintain and improve our Services;
- respond to enquiries and provide support;
- verify purchases and restore content you have bought;
- diagnose crashes and fix bugs;
- understand, in aggregate, how our website and apps are used;
- protect our Services and users from fraud, abuse and security threats; and
- comply with our legal obligations.
We will only send you marketing messages with your consent, and every message will include a way to unsubscribe, as required by the Spam Act 2003 (Cth).
5. Disclosure to others
We may share personal information with:
- service providers who help us run our Services, such as hosting, email, analytics and support providers, who may use it only on our behalf;
- platform providers such as Apple, to the extent needed to deliver apps, purchases and diagnostics;
- professional advisers, such as lawyers and accountants, under a duty of confidentiality;
- a buyer or successor if our business, or part of it, is sold or restructured; and
- government agencies or other parties where required or authorised by law.
6. Overseas disclosure
Some of our service providers store or process information outside Australia, most commonly in the United States and the European Union. Before disclosing personal information overseas, we take reasonable steps to ensure the recipient handles it consistently with the APPs.
7. Storage and security
We take reasonable steps to protect personal information from misuse, interference, loss and unauthorised access, modification or disclosure. These include encryption in transit, access controls and choosing reputable service providers.
We keep personal information only as long as we need it for the purposes described in this policy or as required by law, and then delete or de-identify it. If a data breach is likely to result in serious harm, we will notify you and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) as required by the Notifiable Data Breaches scheme.
8. Children
Some of our apps, including our games, may appeal to younger people. These apps do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has given us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
9. Your choices and rights
- Access and correction. You can ask for access to the personal information we hold about you, and ask us to correct it. We will respond within a reasonable time, usually 30 days.
- Deletion. You can ask us to delete your personal information. Where an app offers an account, you can also delete it from within the app.
- Device controls. You can manage app permissions, analytics sharing and tracking requests in your device’s settings, and delete an app to remove the data it stores on your device.
- Cookies. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Some parts of the website may not work as well without them.
- Anonymity. Where practical, you can deal with us without identifying yourself, for example when making a general enquiry.
If you are in the European Union, the United Kingdom or another place with its own privacy laws, you may have additional rights under those laws. Contact us and we will honour them.
10. Complaints
If you have a concern about how we have handled your personal information, please contact us first. We will acknowledge your complaint promptly and aim to resolve it within 30 days.
If you are not satisfied with our response, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will post the updated version on this page with a new “last updated” date and, if the changes are significant, let you know through the relevant app or website.
